What is Hämorrhoiden?
21 October 2011 | Comments OffHämorrhoiden forms when the blood vein in the lining of the rectum and around anus grows wider and swells with blood.
Though the actual cause is not known, there are few issues that can give rise to this condition:
If the walls of the veins in the rectum and anus are weak it may lead to formation of lumps. This condition is inherited from parents via the genes.
People who are constipated strain themselves during bowel movements. This can cause bleeding and inflame the anus area.
A pregnant woman may experience pressure which can hamper the stream of blood around the anus region and cause swelling of the veins. Also, hormonal changes can be a contributing factor as it affects the veins.
There are of two types of hämorrhoiden:
Internal: constipation is the core reason for origination of internal hämorrhoiden. Constipation causes frequent strain on the rectal region which in turn swells the rectum veins and leads to severe pain. Trace of blood while passing stool is a sign of internal Hämorrhoiden.
External: excessive bleeding is a symptom of external Hämorrhoiden. The loss of blood causes the veins in the rectum to swell. It is an extremely painful state. In external Hämorrhoiden the swollen veins forms around the anus which makes walking, sitting and other related activities uncomfortable.
